Many hospitals have practices in place to ensure that patients who are declared dead are really dead. Ideally, medical professionals should examine a patient thoroughly before they are pronounced lifeless. However, a doctor in Russia seemingly neglected their duty when they mistakenly declared a woman dead.
49-year-Russian old woman fell unconscious after complaining of chest pains. Her husband, Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, then brought her to the nearest hospital in Kazan City, Russia.
After examining the woman’s body, a doctor told Fagilyu that his wife was dead. The doctor said that she suffered from heart disease which led to cardiac arrest.
Fagilyu made the decision not to embalm his wife. Apparently, it is not required in Russia to embalm a body if it will be buried nearby.
Shockingly, on the day of her funeral, Mrs. Mukhametzyanov rose from her coffin. Their close friends and family were giving their farewells when her eyes opened. She then sat up and witnessed the people weeping and praying for her soul’s peaceful departure.
She then realized that she was going to be buried alive. Mrs. Mukhametzyanov screamed in horror and shock which caused her to experience another heart attack.
“Her eyes fluttered and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital but she only lived for another 12 minutes in intensive care before she died again, this time for good,” Fagilyu shared.
Meanwhile, her body was brought to the doctors once more. She was examined again and they confirmed that she died because of another heart attack.
Fagilyu was understandably incensed and though about suing the doctor who incorrectly pronounced his wife dead. He said, “I am very angry and want answers. She wasn’t dead when they said she was and they could have saved her.”
Details following the events of this strange incident are scarce. There is no further information whether or not Fagilyu sued the errant doctor. The incident happened in 2011, but is still widely talked about today.
