The ongoing war on drugs of the current administration drew mixed sentiments among the citizens of the republic of the Philippines.
The recent death of a teenage boy who was a suspected drug courier has outraged many Filipinos, pleading for justice in and out of social media, whilst many still conform with President Rodrigo Duterte's ways to eradicate drug users and syndicates.
Among the netizens who expressed their sentiments over the issue of extra judicial killings (EJK) were celebrities and TV personalities such as sexy star Ethel Booba, who used the social media mistake "fafda" committed by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) host Bianca Gonzales also expressed her grief over the death of the young boy, saying that her heart is in pain alongside the parents of Kian. Camille Co, fashion blogger, said that nowadays we fear the police for the wrong reasons as they are supposed to protect us, not vice versa.
Jim Paredes, APO Hiking Society singer and a known activist, shared his two cents on the issue. On his Twitter account, he claimed that he was angry and suggested netizens to express their fumes as well to seek the rightful justice.
Binibining Pilipinas International Marielle de Leon, daughter of veteran actor Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong, said it hurts her to learn that people concur with the killings because the authorities are okay with it.
Meanwhile, Kapuso superstar Marian Rivera-Dantes called out a fake account bearing her name after a comment written on a social media platform. It said: "U warned us there will be blood. So pde b, ung 16 million lang na bumoto sayo ang patayin mo? Because the rest of us didnt sign up for this."
On her Instagram account, the actress said she doesn't have a Twitter, thus claiming that she wasn't the "superstarmarian" who posted it.
She warned, "Hindi ko rin kilala ang taong nasa likod nito. Sana tumigil na ang ganitong mga account na gumagamit [ng] pangalan ng ibang tao."
