Gerald Anderson proved that he is more than just an actor. He is also a well-known sport and physical fitness enthusiast. Aside from organizing and joining triathlons and fun runs, he is also inclined to basketball. He actually dreamed of being a professional basketball player earlier in his life.
In the recent Star Magic All Star Basketball Game, Gerald served as the team captain of the blue team. He did not just play but also drove the team's confidence through his leadership skills. He also won the Most Valuable Player award with a game-high 42 points.
After the widely talked-about game, an issue between their rival team's team captain Daniel Padilla and another showbiz personality Paul Salas emerged after the latter allegedly made fun of the Teen King's small strife with JC De Vera during the All Star game. Of course, the press did not let go of Gerald and asked what he has to say about the issue.
“Sorry, natutuwa ako, kasi it’s about sports.
“Ito ang drama behind everything.
“That’s why everybody is so affected by it, kasi nga may pride and may joy.
“Ang sarap para sa akin, you know… why not?”
“Siyempre naman, hanggang diyan lang naman. It shouldn’t get personal or anything.
“But you know, knowing us, we take everything personal. Ganun talaga.
“It just shows na hindi showbiz ang mga taong nanonood sa loob, e,” Gerald said in an interview.
The "Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin" lead actor also set the JC DeVera and Daniel Padilla little scuffle as an example.
“Like that, kung ano ang nangyari kay JC and Daniel, it wasn’t anything serious, but it’s great, kasama sa game.
“It shows kung gaano ka-passionate ang mga tao, part siya ng game, drama.”
All Gerald could say when he was asked who his bet is on in the possible Daniel Padilla-Paul Salas basketball showdown, he just said, “Problema nila ‘yan, kaya nila ‘yan.”
This just proves that Gerald is neutral and is not for or against any camp when it comes to sports. That is such a good example Paul Salas and Daniel Padilla should look up to!
