The high school cheerleading coach behind the viral video of cheerleaders being forced to do splits was fired. The video showed a 13-year-old girl screaming in pain from being pushed to her limits.
Ally Wakefield, the girl in the video, said she tore a ligament and a leg muscle from her coach’s commands. The young girl expressed that the pain she was in was unbearable. This coach, Ozel Williams, did what was known as ‘breaking’, the exercise shown on video.
He has been fired from the school but he says that the whole video, even Wakefield screaming and yelling ‘Please, stop!’ was taken out of context. But the coach doesn’t say much after that.
The 24-second clip contained Ally Wakefield's face contorted with pain as we can just imagine being pushed down and forced to split when you know you can’t do it yet. The clip was sent to KUSA, a news channel in Colorada, and they said that they received over 8 videos of girls being “broken.”
This was not a rare thing for coach Williams as he was fired from his previous job for doing the same thing. An owner of gym confesses that she didn’t want to team up with the coach because he displayed “worrying behaviour.”
He would joke, but more like threaten, the girls if they mess up. Coach would actively say that he would punch them in the face if they would not do what he told them to do. She didn’t see anymore of these breaking incidents but she also said that she didn’t leave her students alone with Williams.
The coach tried to defend himself by saying that the video could be seen in a different light and that he would love to tell his story but he couldn’t talk about it at the moment.
