News reporter Atom Araullo shocked the public after announcing that he will be leaving the Kapamilya network and moving to its rival, GMA.
In a statement, he shared that working at the network giant for many years has been amazing. But now, he said, it’s his time to explore new opportunities.
"Working with ABS-CBN for over a decade has been an amazing adventure. However, the time has come to explore emerging opportunities and challenges beyond the organization," he said.
The multi-awarded journalist also explained the reason why he is leaving ABS-CBN. In a separate interview, Atom said he wanted to do many things, try in the realm of the media He narrated that many opportunities have been knocking for the past few months.

“Marami pa kasi akong planong gawin, gustong subukan. Kailangan mag-focus pero siyempre ganon pa rin naman ‘yung trabaho natin sa mundo ng journalism pero ang dami rin kasing opportunities ang nagbubukas nitong mga nakaraang buwan dahil na rin sa mga nagawa natin dito sa UKG,” he shared.
“Alam niyo naman ang interes ko halo-halo rin ‘yan napasok na tayo sa larangan ng film-making, ‘yung Citizen Jake, mahilig rin akong kumuha ng litrato. So marami, marami akong susubukan,” he furthered.
Atom also said he was thankful to the channel, and the opportunities it gave to him. For more than ten years in the service, Atom has been a broadcast reporter and host. Also an excerpt from his statement, he said that he has high respect and regard to the network.

"Although I am taking a new path, I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the company that helped me become the journalist I am today," he said.
"To all the hardworking men and women of ABS-CBN, maraming maraming salamat," he continued.
