Recently, multi-awarded actor John Lloyd Cruz and fellow Kapamilya artist Ellen Adarna became the subject of controversy after photos of them together with non-showbiz friends in Cebu circulated on the web. The latter documented their four-day trip in Virgin Island, Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island, and these stirred speculations that the two are involved in a romantic relationship.
However, photos and video clips of intoxicated Cruz were the ones that drew much attention to the public. Cruz was seen wildly singing and dancing wherein a number of online users reacted negatively.
Days after, the "One More Chance" actor apologized for his misconduct, but then he clarified that he does not regret any of his actions. In an Instagram post, the actor said he is sorry for "the little boys & girls" but explained that he just revealed life's "raw beauty."
"Diz iz mi lerning. very humbling but i do apologize to the little boys & girls. no regrets babies just life revealing its raw beauty," Cruz wrote.

Despite this, many of Cruz's fans still defended his acts and claimed that he just wanted to be himself and have fun. In fact, Star Magic head Johnny Manahan issued a statement to side with the actor.
"John Lloyd Cruz works hard as an actor. 18-hour days at a stretch. He was just letting off some steam. In this age of an all pervasive social media, what is ok and innocent in private becomes worthlessly controversial in public," the statement read.
"For those asking about this, these people work hard, they had time off, they all took a vacation, had fun, and had a few [beer emoji]," Manahan then wrote in his Instagram post, adding the sensational "C'mon guys, it's 2017" line.

Adarna then agreed with the Star Magic official, saying, "Word. Hindi naman kami nag-yoga retreat lol"
Other than Manahan, Kapamilya actress and comedienne Pokwang also left her sentiment about this controversy. She said in her Twitter post, “Kung ako si JLC sampahan ko ng kaso yung nag upload ng video nya ng walang pahintulot!”
