Regular checkups should be done in order to spot early signs of a disease and know the overall health of an individual. However, one woman who was afraid of going to the doctor skipped it. Later, she discovered that she had a severe case of cervical cancer. At the age of 28, she died and left her three children behind.
Amanda Booth was scared of undergoing a smear test. The signs are clear, but she was ignoring it. Because she was afraid of doing tests, doctors were not able to detect her cancer at its early stage.
It was only when she experienced heavy bleeding from her vagina that she asked opinions from experts. Sadly, her illness was so severe that it was too late for any treatment. Even chemo and radiation therapy did her no good. She was told that she just had a few weeks to live.

Furthermore, Amanda lost a huge amount of weight since she was diagnosed. She also looked so much older than her age.
She died not long after she was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. This is proof that you should not skip your yearly check-ups. Had she gone to the doctor, then her life would have been extended.

These are the symptoms that Amanda paid no attention to:
• Pain in the private area during intercourse
• Experiencing menstruation even if it’s not time of the month yet
• Painful urination
• Foul-smelling discharge coming from the private area
In her last days, Amanda encouraged women to undergo smear tests.
“I would say to all women "go and get your smear tests done". I wish I had,” Amanda told Middlesborough Gazette.
