We often hear inspiring stories of people who struggle through life in order to achieve something great. These classic “rags to riches” stories serve as a healthy dose of motivation and inspiration for many people. Such was the case with this homeless man who was able to rise above his station through hard work and clever marketing.
We might not know who Khalil Rafiti but his story will definitely ring a bell.
Thirteen years ago, Khalil Rafiti was a homeless man who was struggling with drug addiction. Rafiti only weighed 48 kg and was living in an impoverished and malnourished state. Luckily, he had a loyal friend who helped and motivated him to start his own juice business.

He started his juice business at the Riviera Recovery Center, the same facility where he was able to kick his drug habit and regain his health. He made juice for the staff and patients of the rehab center.
Due to the popularity of juice, Rafiti thought he could make money off of it. He then established “SunLife Organics” in Malibu, California. Five years after, Rafiti owned a chain of juice bars around Malibu.

SunLife Organics has many celebrities as its customers, including Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedes and X-Files actor David Duchovny.
Nowadays, many entrepreneurs have taken Khalil Rafiti’s story as a source of inspiration. Rafiti also released a book entitled “I Forgot to Die” which details his rags-to-riches story.
