We see Erich Gonzales as one of the most successful women now, but did you know that she used to be poor before?
According to Philippine Star, her family used to be homeless. They lived beside a church with only an old cloth as their walls. She also shared that she experienced having to borrow money from the sari-sari store near their makeshift shelter – as young as seven-years-old.
Erich said that her family used to live in that state for almost a year. She’s extremely grateful that the priest of the church’s diocese understood their plight and let them live there.
The actress revealed this through her guest appearance on the morning talk show “Magandang Buhay” hosted by Jolina Magdangal, Karla Estrada, and Melai Cantiveros.
According to her, she originally came from Davao. She saw an opportunity towards a better life when she auditioned for one of the “Pinoy Big Brother’s” search for their participants. Erich learned that one of the judges who handpicked people was Boy Abunda.
However, her breakthrough was when she appeared in “Star Circle Quest” in 2004, where she emerged as the winner – or “Grand Questor,” as they are called.
From then on, Erich paved her way to stardom and changed her last name from Gancayco to Gonzales in order to make it seem easier and more memorable to the public.
That’s not all – she also aimed to finish her secondary studies in the ABS-CBN Distance Learning Center and attended college at the Trinity University of Asia, where she aptly majored in Mass Communication.
After that, Erich sought acting full-time and appeared in “Katorse” in 2009, where she played the role of a teenage mother. It had a controversial theme but the show boosted her status and enhanced her capability to act on screen.
Now, she revealed that she’s living the life as a truly blessed individual. She shared that she has her own plush condominium near ABS-CBN, where she can easily go to her tapings and production shoots within a short time.
